About me

Hello! My name is Grace. I'm a Nova Scotian artist and Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Waterloo. While I'm a statistician by trade, crocheting has become a large part of my life that I am so fortunate to be able to share with the world. I'm most well-known for my sweater depicting Maud Lewis' "Three Black Cats" painting that started a frenzy on social media in March of 2023.

What began as a quarantine hobby in 2021 has quickly become much more. I'm currently working to balance running a small business while obtaining my doctorate. Much of this is new to me, and quite frankly the rise in popularity and demand has happened so quickly that I was not ready for it!

I am happy to announce that the Maud Lewis Sweater patterns are now available on my ETSY! Head to my Shop to see where to purchase. Thank you so much for all of the love on this collection.

Recently, I've also been involved in organizing the Toronto Crochet and Knit Collective (TC&KC) crafting meet-ups in downtown Toronto. If you're in the area (or just want to see what we're up to), check us out on instagram at @tc.and.kc.

Thank you for supporting me and my creative endeavors. For more consistent, up-to-date information and photos of my latest work, you can find me on Instagram and TikTok @graces.handmades

My Mission

My small business provides size-inclusive crochet patterns that also give back to my community. $2 from every pattern sale is donated to Adsum for Women and Children, which supports women and gender-diverse individuals experiencing housing insecurity in Halifax, NS. This is a small way for me to give back to my home community and to honor Maud Lewis, who I owe much of my success to. As of May 2024, over $350 has been donated to Adsum in her memory.
